Finally made it back on the court this morning with DG.
We were short on time so we got right to the competitive play foregoing the 2-3 hour warmup which WAS my lame excuse for not being able to hang with him.

First set was competitive though I felt even slower than usual which probably means I wasn't moving at all.
I served big but not big enough and went down 4-6. He broke me twice and I got him once.
Was going down in flames 0-4 in the 2nd set when I got a sharp twinge on the inside of my left ankle while lunging for a FH volley. Thought I was done but hated to bail on DG and rob him of the bagel. I took an 'injury timeout' and sat for a few minutes, pain disappeared and we resumed play. Final score 2-6, a real mercy killing.
We then moved on to doubles as some follows scheduled for 9 a.m. invited us to join them. DG & I continued our streak of miserable play together dropping the first set to BN & PS 3-6. Silly me for having expectations.

They were both playing lights out giving up only a few points to UFE's and the harder I hit, the better they seemed to do!!!

My serve really came alive tho' as I had 4 aces and no double faults. However this was not enough.
We decided to soften our game up a bit in the 2nd set with some success. I backed off on my serve which sent the percentages through the roof and gave DG time to poach some and create some confusion for them. As we eased up a bit, DG connected on more returns which got us 2 breaks and we took the set 6-3. Unfortunately we had to stop prior to playing a 3rd set or TB.

I returned very well on the BH side alternately driving and slicing the BH with 2 nice lobs mixed in for good measure. Any serves to my FH (3 in 2 sets) received a severe thrashing.

All in all an excellent outing despite the less than stellar play on my part.
