I'm heading to my first Christmas party of the holiday season tonight at the guy's house who caused me to storm off .  Again, this was many years ago and time has a way of healing old wounds.
At the moment, my intent is to never set foot on the same court as this fellow.
How could I ever trust a person so lacking in personal intergrity?

There's no difference between what he did and lifting a $100 from my wallet.

Even in this season of holiday cheer, it would take me much time. I just tend to avoid characters like this for a long while, following the general philosophy that people don't change much once they hit 21 years  :\
" 'The worst thing about dishonest people is what they think of as honesty,' he said.  'I know a woman who's never held to one conviction for three days running, but when I told her she had no integrity, she got very tight-lipped and said her idea of integrity wasn't mine;  it seems she'd never stolen any money.' "

I had to laugh when I came across this passage while reading last night.  I think it's fascinating how a book written over 60 years ago could so aptly describe a situation from my daily life.

When I stopped laughing, I was sad.

Finally made it back on the court this morning with DG.
We were short on time so we got right to the competitive play foregoing the 2-3 hour warmup which WAS my lame excuse for not being able to hang with him. :(
First set was competitive though I felt even slower than usual which probably means I wasn't moving at all. :mad1:
I served big but not big enough and went down 4-6.  He broke me twice and I got him once.
Was going down in flames 0-4 in the 2nd set when I got a sharp twinge on the inside of my left ankle while lunging for a FH volley.  Thought I was done but hated to bail on DG and rob him of the bagel.  I took an 'injury timeout' and sat for a few minutes, pain disappeared and we resumed play.  Final score 2-6, a real mercy killing.

We then moved on to doubles as some follows scheduled for 9 a.m. invited us to join them.  DG & I continued our streak of miserable play together dropping the first set to BN & PS  3-6.  Silly me for having expectations.   They were both playing lights out giving up only a few points to UFE's and the harder I hit, the better they seemed to do!!! :mad1:  My serve really came alive tho' as I had 4 aces and no double faults.  However this was not enough.

We decided to soften our game up a bit in the 2nd set with some success.  I backed off on my serve which sent the percentages through the roof and gave DG time to poach some and create some confusion for them.  As we eased up a bit, DG connected on more returns which got us 2 breaks and we took the set 6-3.  Unfortunately we had to stop prior to playing a 3rd set or TB. :(   I returned very well on the BH side alternately driving and slicing the BH with 2 nice lobs mixed in for good measure.  Any serves to my FH (3 in 2 sets) received a severe thrashing. :))

All in all an excellent outing despite the less than stellar play on my part. :king:

2-3 hour warmup?  You are unbelievable.  I played 2 hours of doubles today and then I had a nice date with an ice bag on my knee for 30 minutes.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Not bad for a fat, old, fart, eh? ;-()

There are 4 of us who are absolute hogs when it comes to court time.   :gleam:

Bailey's shots in frozen chocolate seemed to work well for the aches and pains last night.....

Heading out shortly for another morning of tennis.
Will hit the wall for 15 min. , take  some serves and then have another go at DG for 1.5 hours.
After that, we've got some dubs scheduled with CF and a mystery guest.  An alleged 5.0 from back in the day.
I wonder if it's DMast? :))

4 hours on court today, life is good. :king:

1 hour practice with DG mostly volleys.  We are getting better at the RDC drill tho' the shots aren't strong.

2 hours of dubs with CF and SK.  What a pleasure to play on the same court as SK!  A solid 5.0+ player, he has the skill and the desire to push all the players on the court to play their best tennis (and still win of course!).

Then SK and I played a set of singles.  I managed to hold twice and found myself down 2-5.  During the 8th game he eased up just a bit on his serve and let me crack 3 FH return winners to get the break.  I then held once more before he dusted me 6-4.  Realistically, I was only dictating play about 10% of the time tops. ::))11
I'd like to have a go at him sometime while I'm fresh to see if I could actually win 3 or 4 games.  Sadly, I think for me to win 3 would be pushing it... :(

Good fun, with good friends. :))

You do realize of course that it's the Bryan Bros. doing this drill!!!!

My buddy Dan and I are MUCH slower and rarely complete more than one cycle over and back.  We are improving tho' since our first time out we could barely hit 4-5 volleys!

You are like Mike. Twins always create problems  :;:-| ;;) . It's aways seemed to me that part of their success is probably that they think alike too.

Ah pooo, I was hopin' you'd say Bob.  I think he's the better player of the 2.

Undoubtedly, playing and practicing together for all these years has contributed to their success.
