Which 'B Bros' do you think I look like? :rofl_2:

Before I answer this one , are you left or right handed, MT ?   :)
It all comes down to the details with 3 guys as good as you are.
I am ambidexterous, but throw and play tennis with my right.
I can eat and drink with both hands though! ;-()

You are like Mike. Twins always create problems  :;:-| ;;) . It's aways seemed to me that part of their success is probably that they think alike too.
Ah pooo, I was hopin' you'd say Bob.  I think he's the better player of the 2.

Undoubtedly, playing and practicing together for all these years has contributed to their success.

Bob is the lefty, so I guess you will just have to change hands, MT, to identify with him.  ..-)

I think he should be the one to switch!

An interesting evening at the club tonight.
Had a locker room confrontation with the 'Hooker' from last Tues. night.  After a bit of bristling, and ruffling of the feathers he admitted my serve was in last week confirming what everyone else already knew.  We then teamed up for some dubs and had an ok eve.

Highlight of my night was the opportunity to hit with a nice D1 player.
1/2 hour warmup prior to the dubs, thank God we were only using half the court!!!
Some absolutely sick power and spin had me on my heels and feeling like a 2.0 player framing balls all over the court.  And I won't even go into the quickness and speed.  By far the best player I've ever hit with.
We had a blast during the dubs as he would try to tater me when I was at the net.  He nailed me dead center of me keg twice!!  Thank God that thing is made of steel!!! ;-()  We had lots of laughs while alternating play between cooperative tennis (for our partners) and smashmouth tennis (him trying to kill me).  I did manage to ace him twice and was able to return his serve about 66% of the time.  Tons of power and spin on the serve but not as accurate as I had expected.
The circus was in town and I had both courts cracking up several times with my clowning.   :))

2 great shots from tonight-
I got a short ball in the deuce court and ran up and smacked a FH 'no look' shot up the line.
Later I tracked down a lob in the deuce court and hit a slice shot back up the line by Jake which actually started outside the net post and curved in.
(the visual image of me tracking down a lob should have you rolling on the floor in fits of laughter)
Jake commented afterward that my shot was very Federer-like.  I guess I can retire now!!!
On the very next shot he set me up to hit the same shot on the BH side and I couldn't convert.
Oh well, I guess I'll stick with my day job.

So, since you had a discussion with the hooker, will you be playing tennis with him again or is he still banned?

Sounds like you had some good tennis last night, despite the humbling by a D1 player.  I know how that one feels....makes you realize just how much more room for improvement there is.   :)

We were partners last night!!!

I told him this way he wouldn't be able to hook me and that I'd prevent him from hooking anyone else.  Nary a word to the contrary from him!!!
It actually turned out to be an enjoyable eve.

As this discussion has been going on amongst friends here at home and on the net, I've come to realize that I'm just as responsible as he is for not handling the situation a bit better.  Lets see how things go over the next few weeks.  Am scheduled to play in the super hot Thurs. night group this week where both he and I are the weaker players.

Last Sat. I played dubs with maybe the 2 worst line callers in our club, or at least 2 of the top 3 and it was sooooo bad it was actually funny, especially since we were winning by so much.  These 2 guys called 3 balls out that were INSIDE the line.  Unbleepingbelievable!!!!!!!!  I knew what I was going to get before I walked out so I didn't say anything.  If I want to show up and subject myself to that then I get what I deserved.

I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

MT, a couple of thoughts:   Awesome you got to hit with someone so good!   I thought you lived in the sticks?   How do you guys find the players and some very solid ones also?

On the B-bros. volley drill:   I had seen it before.......I got some dvd for getiing 5 more years of usta membership.  It had Jimmy Connors and the B-bros. on it.   I will have to look again and see what it is called.  Anyway, they did their volley drill and I was in awe!   I tried it with Scott or Freebird or somebody and it was, as you apparently know, way harder than they made it look.  We weren't horrible at it but it would have taken much more practice to get good at it.  Good stuff bro!

We are certainly 'in the sticks' tennis-wise.  Most of the young tennis players leave here to go to private school down in Taxachussets and we never see them again. :(  This lad went to the local high school and then local college for one year before transferring to a D1 school.  He's a great guy and is kind enough to hit with me.

The RDC drill done by the B Bros does take some practice.  Several things to keep in mind is that it's a cooperative drill and both players have to lead their partner in order to keep it moving.  In review, I think our biggest problem has been that we were both too close to the net which obviously reduces reaction time allowed.  Will be sure to try it again from further back and let you know how we make out.  It sure is fun!!! :))....and tiring! :mad1: ;-()

He's in the sticks the same way my mom is in the sticks. He's probably about an hour or so north of Boston, and southern New Hampshire is really a suburb of Boston these days.
I've seen some of the Bryan Bros drill as Tennis Channel fill. They are pretty interesting, and I'd love to try some of them.

There are a couple of real sickos at the club whom I couldn't take more than a game or 2 from in competitive play.
Not that I'm all THAT good. ;-()

Hope to join the Thurs eve crew tonight which is the 'A' team around here.
They must be pretty hard up to let me hit with them! ;-()

You seem to at least be decent 4.0 so you are a pretty solid player I would say!   We don't have enough 4.5+ players at our club or even in Columbus for that matter.  Some tourneys have solid players but they are more like solid 5.0 or better!  That is just plain ridiculous to try against a 5.5............that is some tennis!   I guess I need to look a little harder.

A full house at the club tonight!  12 players on 3 courts with my partner CF and I being the weakest players of the bunch!!! :scared:
We went down in flames against 3 different teams 1-6,1-6,2-6.  The 4 games we managed to win were on my serve.
Afterwards CF confessed to having several glasses of wine and a nice dinner prior to playing.  Thanks alot buddy!!! :mad1:

Although we were outmatched in each set, I had hoped we could take at least 3 games each time.  Alas, it was not to be.
Went up against some stiff competition which I'm not quite ready for but what the hell. :))  D1 player was there again tonight along with 2 5.0 players.
Tried a couple drop volleys tonight just for fun.  Went 1 for 2.  It's absolutley brutal trying to volley some of the drives these fellers are hitting!  Continually reminding myself to stop trying so hard, just relax and let it happen.  They'll be playing hockey in Hell before I learn to 'relax'! :rofl_2:

I actually love to hit the drop volley off of hard hit shots.........especially with lots of topspin as those seem to drop off of my racket quite nicely.  You are killing me with all of this great tennis you are getting to play.  I got an itch for some more tennis right now.

Put away volleys are my weakness no matter what type. :(  I have much more success with half-volleys believe it or not!!

I'm just getting started up with tennis again here.
Fortunately my buddies are generous enough to have me come and go as my schedule dictates.

Not to worry, your turn will come OSU! :))

I did manage to convert on one of those tonight earning kudos from my fellow players.  D1 just smoked a FH at me and I dropped it about a foot over the net.  Definitely need to work on those.  I've never actually practiced them before and have probably only hit a dozen in my life!
