Tried a bit of low level dubs with the Tues night crew and it went ok.
No strenuous play and the only groin pain I had was on 2 low balls to the back hand.  The pain seemed to go away quickly so I continued play.  I was surprised at how well I was able to serve without much knee bend...

I may try some more competitive dubs on Thurs eve if things still feel ok then.

Good news..............good to hear that your back on the court.   Make sure not to overdo it.
With a nickname like Monster Truck how can I NOT over do it?

That's always been my biggest challenge coming back from an injury.  I try to play relaxed "old man" tennis and then get excited when there's no pain and poooof here we go again.

That's the only brand I seem to know how to play.
The more I try it, the more I like it! :thumbs-up:
I can't believe I just said that! :( ;-() :))

I have to be honest I hate to run, well distance running that is. I jumprope ,bike, do plyometric excercises and footwork drills instead. Distance running makes me misrable :( I don't see how people like it, it's like torture. ;-()

Dude, running is the worst.  Boring as all can be for me.  I just end up running faster and faster until I burn myself out.  I find no enjoyment in it what so ever.  To each their own, running is good for you.

Its pretty relaxing. Sometimes its hard to clear your mind or focus on just one thing when you are sitting down trying to do just that, but when you do long distance running you have plenty of ways to rest your mind - you can like concentrate on your breathing or on your footsteps patterns or something, and sorta just zone out for a while. sorta like fall asleep except not. and if the weather's good and you are not running to stay in some time per distance limit its really enjoyable. Just my opinion. I haven't run long distance in a while now. Forget about 5k or something, right now I'd call running from my bedroom to the kitchen long distance

Sometimes I clear my head and the time and miles just fly by.  Other times, just the opposite occurs.  My mind is busy sorting a problem at work or figuring out a chess problem. :)

To steal a thought from another thread-  I think we're all wired differently.  I'm never bored when I walk/run because I'm never "alone" so to speak. :insane:

Like Gonzo once said, you're always playing against 2 players-  the opponent and yourself.  Running is the perfect time to exercise your mental warfare with yourself!

No thanks!  I'll choose to have my mental battles and challenges on the court.   :)     Put a ball in play so I have something to chase....................but don't make me chase myself!?

Plyometrics worked wonders for me when I was competing, I was fitter than I ever was after I started doing plyometrics. As far as footwork drills I'd say Back, Split, and Sprint, Wedel and Slide and Sprint are my favs. I recomend pillattes aswell, I know most guys aren't willing to do it because it's so....uhm girly? But it works wonders also despite it's image.

Had a very light hit this weekend with a few groin twinges as I took the lunge steps coming in behind my serve.  Skipped Tues social dubs and did a bit on the treadmill yesterday.  Will try some competitive dubs tonight and see how it goes.

I never realized how critical the groin area is until it hurt! :(

You aint seen nothing yet.  Just wait till you have to have a wire threaded up there into your heart to see if you have a month or 2 left.  You wanna talk about fun??!!
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Sounds worse than the catheter I had!  The damn fools put out a call to all the nurses on the floor to come watch the Head Witch pull it out!  Poor "Willie" didn't work well for a few hours after that! ..-)

Played hard with the big boys tonight!  Finished up by filling in as a 4th with 3 5.0 players.  I'd like to say I pulled my weight, but now that's a HEAVY load!  We did manage to push them to a TB but then lost dismally 7-4 on my serve. :(  Needless to say I was gassed after 3.5 hours of tennis but it still pissed me off that my fitness is in the toilet.

Had some good shots, especially first serves with some sick spin.  Also a few body shots for service winners.  Even hit 2 Monster overheads that made the nice "thwaaaaap" that we all know and love!!!  Despite all that, there were noo issues with the groan area but my tennis wasn't at it's best.  I felt like there was a complete mind/body disconnect that lasted most of the night.

Good to hear!  I am really curious about your rating now.  You really need to come to Ohio so we can settle this the right way.
