Check this out, Lugzy.

2008 surprise players Safin (SF-Wimby), Tsonga, Shuettler (SF-Wimby), Simon, Del Potro would have benefitted more from the 2009 system because the difference between, say, as SF finish and a QF finish will favor the SFist in 2009.

So as duggie notes, a player will benefit based on the merit of his results.

Yeah, makes sense..but they will now have more trouble to defend those good results from the 2008,right?

Nope, just as much trouble. Safin and Shuettler have to reach the SF of a slam, and Del Potro has to win 4 lesser tourneys.

So...Safin-He got 450 by reaching Wimbly SF and now if he reach SF again next year he will get 720,that's even better for him?
Not as relative to the win of 2000 points - percentage and number wise he'd be down.

Ok to conclude this with some banal example..Let it be Babble's Safin...
If he reach SF next year in Wimbly, how many points will he gain/lose ?

You can't do it like that. It's relative to how others finish--forget about absolute numbers. In my Safin-Murray example, Safin will benefit relative to Murray under the new system, and that is what you want to see. You want to see the lower ranked players move closer to the higher ranked players.

OK,I guess it will be easier to understand when the new season kicks off

WHAT?!?!

Don't give her props. I don't see James Blake tribute thread, Ms. "James Blake is my 2nd favorite player"... :nono:

First off...get it right! Things have changed!
Roger is #1
Stan is #2
Blake is #3

And I have my hands full trying to keep Roger's thread going and up-to-date as well as trying to post things in Stans thread, plus occassionally posting things in the Williams' Sister thread.  Heck, I can only do so much! :)~

The principle is no different to the existing system Lugburz. A players results compared to a previous year will depend as well on what others do. its just that all points are roughly doubled for winning the event but places get a smaller percentage.

Slam was 1000/700/450 but now its 2000/1200/720 etc

From what I remember its pro rata of the slam - 1000/600/360 etc (compared to the old 500/350/225)

No probs - just checked they are the new masters points 1000/600/360/180/90..... and you can see there is again a new weighting for the winner.

I think its good overall.
