FEDERER AMONG SPORTS ILLUSTRATED'S POWER PLAYERS

Roger Federer is No. 3 in Sports Illustrated's list.
Roger Federer is among the Top 10 power players of world sport according to Sports Illustrated, the U.S. magazine.

The Swiss superstar is No. 3 in the list, behind NBA basketball star LeBron James and golfer Tiger Woods. Serena Williams, the WTA World No. 1, is seventh overall.

Sports Illustrated writes, “Never mind that he’s the most decorated men’s tennis player ever, is there a more likeable athlete?

“A 2011 Reputation Institute study listed Federer, 31, as the second-most-respected man in the world – behind only Nelson Mandela.”

Federer will play his compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka in the BNP Paribas Open fourth round on Wednesday.

Thanks.  I'm doing well.  Final doctor's 'exam' will be Monday.  Hopefully I'll get a 100% clearance by then! :))

So... Caroline's man likes Roger's 'image'....

McIlroy’s idol when he was growing up was Woods. But brand-wise, he aspires to be like another Nike endorser, the tennis superstar Roger Federer, who has become a symbol of grace and good taste. McIlroy said he discussed the business side of sports with Federer over dinner in December while in Brazil to watch his girlfriend, the tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. Before completing the deal with Omega, McIlroy spoke for 45 minutes with Federer, a 17-time major singles champion.

“He’s a role model, someone I can pattern myself after,” McIlroy said.

Oh...ok...

Roger looked great today, but he wasn't really playing a top player either.  I hope his form continues in this tournament.  He needs to gain some momentum going into the French!!!!!

It's nice to look good against the world #293, it would be even better if he manages to look good today, against a much better player than Starace, who is a bad matchup to boot. Here's hoping!
