I think that the best kind of music for tennis is techno musich. I, personally, am not that big of a fan of techno music but most tennis players are European. And Europeans mostly listen to techno music. So this music would get people hyped up while playing.

I like to listen to something gentle and smooth. Usually something with acoustic guitar to help calm me down. I find that I can find a rhythm quickly when the music I listen to calms me down rather than gets me amped up like AC/DC or something would.

I usually listen to reggae and rock music before a match. If it's a big match and I need to get extra hyped I'll listen to hip hop.

Polka really gets the adrenaline going.  But don't listen to too much or else you're going to just start punching and choking people.

well to me its whatever kind of music puts in a good mood--I listen to various artists some pop, some rock, as long as I get in a good mood or a fighting mood, then I'll listen to it

I used to listen to heavy metal before my match. My favorite was Scorpions "Rock you like a hurricane" and it would pumped me up. Of course, I would run into players that would blast me off the courts with comets and meteors.
I've been a tennis bum for half my life.
I'll just be a bum for the other half.

Gotta go with Paul, Ace, Gene, and Peter (KISS)!  Afterall, "Ace" is in the band.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

I almost wonder if it's better to listen to music that zens you out, or music that pumps you up.  I'm usually playing my best tennis when I'm in a zen-like state -- not that I'm a big proponent of eastern philosophy.  Like calm, thinking clearly, cooly focused, physically relaxed and responsive.  I have no idea what kind of music would be best at calling out this state, though.

I like listening to everything before tennis, but especially the big uptempos (i.e. Destiny's Child's LOSE MY BREATH), nostalgic pop/rock (i.e. Third Eye Blind's SEMI-CHARMED LIFE) and the fun songs (i.e. Sheryl Crow's MISSISSIPPI).

i cant listen to the kind of songs that get stuck in my head before tennis.  they get really anooying a tend to get more frustrated if i have that beat stuck in my head.  on the otehr hand, i ussually sing a greenday song, my favorite is when i come around, when i play, and especially if im in a long ralley from the baseline, i sing it till i get to the first chorus, then i rush to net.  sound stupid right?  i dunno why i do it, but i feel like iget the confidence to crish crush the ball.  also i think it takes my mind of worrying about misisng, so i just hit like i know how.  anybody else sing or hum to themselves as they play?  or am i just a lunatic? lol
