Well, I was off watching the "big game", the only game of the week. I was pretty surprised at the score. NE wins 24-20. I thought the score would be higher.
One thing that struck me as I watched the game, the officiating was horrendous. It one sidedly horrendous. New England 10 - 146; Indy 4 - 25. And at least 3 of the penlties on the Pats were clearly wrong. The worst was a goal line pass interference on the defense when it really should have been offensive interference if anything. Put the Colts on the 5 yeard line. They got a field goal out of that. Another more legit pass interference gave the Colts the ball inside the previously and got 3 points out of. But I can say that the first was legit, the second was terrible.
They called Moss with offensive pass interference in the endzone when he turned to catch a ball and the defender had his hand wrapped around Moss' middle.
There were a few other calls against the Pats, and calls not made against the Colts.
I don't mention this with an eye on the NFL trying to make the "good guy" Colts the winners, and the "bad guy" Pats the losers. I mention it because the betting line on the game was Pats by 4 at the beginning of the week, and was almost 6 by game time. The Pats won by 4, but really should have won by 10 or 14. So all those who took the Pats (and with the spread moving nearly 2 points over the week, that would be most of the money). Add the NBA ref who was in the pockets of the gamblers, and the recent allegations of tennis players, you have wonder if the NFL refs aren't above taking some extra money to try and control the scoring to help the bookies as well.
