help me folks.

i have the fed vs. gonzo final ao. in mp4. its 900mb but great quality and what's more, its like more than just the match, its a 3 and a half hour video with all things leading up plus ceremony and everything, under a gig, great quality too, i can go full screen on my laptop and see great, that's just ridiculous. so now how do i break an mp4. we already have highlgiths so i didn't think of converting to avi (not to mention none of my converters even support mp4). is there a site that uploads 1 gig?
i could just put it on xdrive or something and share it i think right instead of the usual megaupload?
wait i didn't even try vdub, does that do it?

I didn't realise that one wasn't on the list or I'd have done it before Fed-Ljubocic. I have it full, but if you wanta try to solve your challenge first, let me know... otherwise I can split and upload. Just thinking that if your home connect isn't that fast, it's an awful lot of overhead/time to have people download it from you

Is it just me (I really hope not!!!!), or is anybody else experiencing no sound on the Federer-Roddick US Open 2006, Federer-Ljubicic Miami 2006 and Federer-Gonzalez Australian Open 2007 matches? I have noticed that whenever I try and load these matches using Windows Media Player, the video says 'Acquiring codec' and whenever it says this, there is no sound on the video. This happens for all three matches. This is really weird because I have got other matches from this particular page and it has sound....

The original DVD used the AC3 sound codec.... Install K-Lite Mega codec pak and you should be ok

I experienced the same thing when I tried to play the fed-roddick uso match while it was still downloading. but when I played it after it had finished downloading they were all fine. that has never happened to me before but they are all fine after its completely downloaded. also WIMP doesn't play half the thing by itself, either download K-Lite package as barbadosan said or just get vlc media player @ www.videolan.org and it can play pretty much everything. or alternatively, and i haven't looked into it too much but i think media player classic plays everything.

Love the acronym "WIMP" .. had never heard that before... lol. I tend to give it a wide berth myself :D

thank you all for your works but IMO, you'd better think of reducing the videos quality (just like dvdrip movies - about 10mb/minute is more reasonable)!

I am no expert at this stuff either so you are better off waiting for some who know more about this. But virtualdub can do this. Just open the file with Virtualdub, under video it should be in full processing mode (or anything but direct ... something), and under the same video you can change your compression aspects, including the codecs and then configure it a little bit. I have never actually done specific number changes (like bachikho seems to be saying) but I usually do what I just said (i just use the xvid codec with a slightly lower quality) and save that as avi. I know I got a 1.7gig file to save as a 800mb file after i did this, so worth a try i'd say and pretty simple.

I agree. I have no problem now, after I have my xternal hard drive. I suppose its beneficial with people with not much hard disk space. and.. I dunno.

It depends on the compression algorithm you use. Some of these videos are decent quality, but they could be much smaller in file size without losing really any quality, or not much. How ever, there are times when retaining as much quality is a good thing. I still have the Wimbledon Final that is over 7 gigs. It's an HD TV rip, and it is startlingly good. There is a US Open Final on the tennistorrent site, that is a little more than 5 gigs. I'm assuming it's also from an HD source. I'm looking forward to seeing that when it gets done.
Most of the HD rips still look very good with much more compression though.

Thing is, we're not even talking such top-notch quality; mine are 2 gigs tops.
