Ice shuts down Texas SO fast. It stayed in the 20s today which meant very little melting. It's very thick around my house. And covered with about 1/2 inch of snow. Most of the major school districts in DFW have already cancelled school for tomorrow after being cancelled today. I've lived in dallas a long time and can't remember 2 consecutive snow/ice days. It does seem worse than usual though. The few people I know who've driven around today said it was really bad. Usually when there's an ice storm by midday everyone says it's not too bad.

Dude, rain is much worse than snow. You can't do anything in the rain. Think about watching a football game in the snow v. in the rain.

I wouldn't sit in a stadium for any sort of precipitation. It better be cloudy or sunny AND dry.

With snow, the concern isn't being wet, it's being COLD!

We got about 4 inches instead of the 10+ promised for the first round. Tomorrow's forecast has been scaled back from 20" to 10-12. Whooopteeefrickin'do!

I went to bed around 10:00pm last night because it didn't look like the bid dump would hit until midnight. Woke up this morning and peeped out the window at my truck to see the bed filled to the top. The snow was dry and accompanied by wind, so the tops of the cars are clean and the truck's bed perfectly level. When the consistency of the snow is heavy, it will pile up on the cars several inches. On the other hand, the wind has created large snow drifts here and there that turn 12" of snow into 3' here and there. I live near a snow route and I see people are already driving down the streets at 7am. I street-park on an unplowed street, so I won't be able to move.

It's beautiful this a.m. I can see blue in the sky.

Looking forward to swish's report. Hopefully, he has power.

Well, I cleaned off my car and the surrounding area.

It will help later, for now there are no cars going down the side streets, none. People are walking in the middle of these streets. People are walking on the main streets too, but traffic is very light as hardly anyone can get their cars out.
We got about 20 inches but around my car it was about 3 feet and some drifts up to 6 feet.
The snow is light so a lot of it blew off of roofs and added to the totals on the ground around these buildings.

Wow guys. We are at 14 degrees and the state of Texas decides to do "rolling black outs" because of electricity demands. It is now a little after 1:30 here and our power has gone out 5 tines this morning!!!! Wonder if the super bowl committee regret that it gave us the super bowl over Miami where it will be in the 80's today. Lol
