The Jackets need to make the playoffs to get that monkey off their back, then they can finally mature as a team and start playing like they belong. In addition to the wonderful rookie Mason (who should be rookie of the year IMHO) lets not forget long suffering and loyal Nash.

I agree it would be HUGE for the Jackets to get that monkey of their back and be in the playoffs.  I am really pulling hard for it this year as this is the first year they were in such great contention this late into the season (last season was the closest but had started falling off by around now anyway).   I also think Nash will set his new highest points mark, hopefully something 80 or more.  Mason should be a serious Calder candidate, maybe even a Vezina candidate with how open it is this year.  Most importantly though I really want to see them in the playoffs finally as it will be a huge lift to the franchise, the fan base, the confidence of the team, everything.

Tonight was arguably the greatest game in the relatively short history of the franchise.  It was just an incredible performance.

This town really supports a winner (kind of a sad commentary on the opposite side of that coin), but if they get in the playoffs, the roof will be blown off Nationwide Arena!

I think they have been waiting to see the Jackets playing well and winnig. the start of a nfl franchise is never easy.
see my Devils, previous Colorado Rockies and KC Scouts, we almost wait 7 years in NJ but I now am proud of the playoff record Devils shared with the Red Wings.

Jackets can only become stronger in the coming years. mark my words.

I am not worried a bit about the CBJ's future.  We are LOADED with talent.  It's a shame Brassard was injured early this season.  He is going to be REAL GOOD!

do you think Jackets can win the cup for example in 2012? Mason is the new Brodeur.
Red Wings will be old. Sharks do not impressed me and maybe the biggest opponent could be Chicago. I am also waiting a Canadian club to finally win the cup again, long time since the Habs in 1993, biggest drought, sadly Leafs and Canucks are almost impossible to imagine winning the cup.

I think they may be only a year or 2 away, depending on free agency and trades this off-season.  I think they could win it before 2012.

excellent match in Columbus!
Jackets 2 - 0 Bruins, and Boston is the best club in the east!!
goals Torres & Nash, another SO for Mason, that should be an all time record for a rookie!!

Playoff atmosphere in the arena.  I watched on tv but the crowd was electric, a true home crowd advantage.

Not home to watch it, but I heard it was great. Got home just as game had ended. Go Jackets!

I am not a huge fan of hockey, but I am following Toronto ML several years back. When I got the chance to watch them I am enjoying it because I like hockey as a game, pretty fun..
So...I can see you guys are pretty big hockey fans and you can tell me about Toronto's chances for the playoff this year.?
I know they didn't participated since the 2004 season but I am optimistic every season  :)

A couple reasons hockey is so great:
1) fast paced
2) checking - clean only please
3) if you get bored, you can just watch the players move and remind yourself amazingly that they are skating.

Toronto has no chance again this year of getting in the playoffs.  That's gotta be a huge disappointment for a lot of Canadiens.

what happens in Toronto, 42 years without a trip to the finals, is horrible, don't know what fans feel there? it's sad, it's a original six franchise!

What a game for the Jackets last night. Largest crowd ever. 4-3 (SO) over the Penguins. Huselius 2 goals, incl. the shoot out goal.

One to go! Brodeur gets win No. 550 as Devils whip Coyotes!

With the New Jersey Devils' 5-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes at the Rock on Thursday night, Brodeur moved within one victory of tying Roy for the most wins in NHL history. Goals: Parise, Madden, Zubrus, Elias and Zajac.

In the previous game, Devils doused Flames at the Rock! Captain Jamie Langenbrunner had two points, and Zach Parise added his team-leading 39th goal for the Devils, who dumped the Flames, 3-2, Tuesday. Martin Brodeur notched career win No. 549, two shy of the all-time mark

No. 551 could come in front of Roy and a full house of 21,273 fans at the Bell Centre in downtown Montreal -- a short walk from the corner of St. Catherine and Peel, a short drive from St. Leonard. Martin Brodeur grew up with pictures of Patrick Roy adorning the walls of his bedroom inside his family's modest home in St. Leonard, Que., a Montreal suburb 20 minutes from the old Forum.

Millions will be watching on CBC and RDS in Canada as well as the NHL Network and MSG Plus back in the United States. It could be the biggest one-man show this season as Brodeur tries to tie one of the hockey's most revered records.

:toot:

Also, Hitch was honored before the game for winning 500 games.  He was a little misty eyed. Very nice ceremony.
