The Hawks and Jackets are 2 of the youngest teams in the league and the Wings have several older players.  But the GM in Detroit (Holland) always seems to draft someone out of the 6th round like a Zetterberg or Datysuk who turns out great so maybe we won't pass them  :Confused:

End of 1st period of Game 7, no goals, Red Wings 0 - Penguins 0
prediction: the red wings are the better team, they should win at home but I have the feeling tonight is the start of a new era in the nhl and the pens will win the Stanley Cup.

terrible, I am always correct in my championship prediction and the team I want to lose takes the title!  :rofl_2:

so, the Pens who finish 4th in the atlantic take the stanley cup, the regular season means nothing in pro american sports.

I grew up close to Pittsburgh and am a HUGE Penguins fan.  I live in Columbus now and have adopted the Blue Jackets, but suffice it to say my #1 team won it all!!!!   :toot: :good: :first-place: :first-place:

it must be feeling special since the pens were almost out the playoffs battle and we buried them on page 3 in this thread.

wonderful champions! a new dinasty! more atlantic division great matches to come!
the Jackets, an established playoff team in the future.

very impressive to win game 7 on the road!  :)

seems that my New Jersey Devils will not make the playoffs this season.  :(

the Devils have made the playoffs in 20 out of the last 22 seasons, including each of the last 13. They have had 18 straight seasons over .500; currently the longest such streak of any team in America's four major sports. :( :(

don't know if the deal with Kovalchuk, so much money, so many seasons, is good?  :Confused: :Confused:

believe it or not, we don't have defense and only 2 great lines in attack.  :( :(

Hawks had to sell the farm to make salary cap this year, so we're not expecting a title defense run this year.

Is John Madden still playing for Chicago? He was called Maddog in NJ. Legendary pk unit with Pandolfo, he was quite good scoring goals when facing a power play from the rival clubs.

it has been a bumpy start for NJ, Kovalchuk injured, Brodeur injured and now my fav. Parise out for the 3 months.

Parise tying the olympic final with 2 seconds left in the clock was my best moment of the year. Horrible Cindy Crosby had a fatal breakaway in OT.  

Columbus has a great fan base, great merit if you think they have not won a playoff game yet. if they could play play in the weeker eastern conference.

here are my two of my three favorite moments of last year Devils season.

the third one, Brodeur getting the record of so in Pittsiburgh was the beggining of the end, as expected the level of play dropped and only got worse.

 Zach Parise Breakaway OT Goal (Devils vs Canadiens 1/9/10)
or Doc with a laringitis broken voice!! the funny thing is that he scored the same goal one month later in NJ and some jokes about the call.
