How to convert a bunch of videos to the same format?

Hi ! This is my problem: I have about 15 short avi videos that I would like to merge, but they don't have the same format. How can I convert them all to the exact same format (same video bitrate, resolution...)? Is it possible with VirtualDub? I'd like the quality not to be too dumbed down...

by format you mean the screen size and the fps right? good question, very good question. I shall wait for the answer :)) cuz i have no idea.

I mean screen size and bitrate...I don't know if the FPS need to be the same...
I've tried with SUPER, and it gives good results with some of the videos, but others seem to suffer from the conversion. Well, it's annoying because I was preparing a "surprise", but maybe I can upload 4-5 little videos anyway, instead of a bigger one... :)
