No I don't box amateur or professionally; just what I've learned from dad and friends who box over the years since a kid. Did alot of tae-kwon-do tourny's through my teens though; sogetting kicked in the head so much didn' help and I sucked anyways

It's funny; most members on the boxing forum I am on think tennis is gay and tedious; it seems on here most think very little of boxing or combat sports in general and view it as some form of barbarism.

I must be the only one who loves both sports, and only these 2 sports, because of the similarities I see in each one that are required to be a great champion: great footwork, speed, fantastic conditioning, timing and above all mentality and the will to survive and thrive. I am a weird one though so whateva' I love chess; and tennis and boxing, when at their highest levels, are frantic, frenetic chess matches that require mind over matter. My Truth

I don't love boxing but I do like it for all the stuff you said. I see MMA and UFC (which are like the same thing) as barbaric, it just doesn't have the same mental strength aspect to it, but I do think it's cool when someone gets clocked . I have always loved chess, I see it as a war and at a high level when you understand the game it is very entertaining. Don't worry, Legion, you're not weird or anything, there are others who see things that way

I would think there are quite a few chess lovers here. My dad taught me young; I'm not all that great and get mad and throw things, but I can hold my own.

I like UFC/MMA but I am more a purist and appreciate two people who use their hands, footwork and minds to beat their opponent; setting traps and breaking wills, hitting without getting hit, etc.  MMA guys are some of the most well conditioned athletes in the world, but it's so much lucky punches and wild exchanges, or layng on one another wrastling' b.s. I only did martial arts for so many years when I was young because there were no boxing schools close enough.
