What about Jason Kidd's, "We're gonna turn this team around 360 degrees."? :))

"A shining star in my foggy life"
Legion

Reminds me of Lord of the Rings.
Oh thx. OSU; came to me when I realized I had left off the most important person in my life in that thread. Does have a LOTR's feel to it; funny I am a LOTR's freak but I assure you that one is my own creation :))

Here's some absolutely ridiculous quotes; almost feel embarassed to be human after seeing a couple of them:

"I take my hand off to him." Mike Tyson

"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first." New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers

"The trouble with referees is that they just don't care which side wins." Tom Canterbury

"Left hand, right hand, it doesn't matter. I'm amphibious." Charles Shackleford of the NCSU basketball team.

"My sister's expecting a baby, and I don't know if I'm going to be an uncle or an aunt." Chuck Nevitt, North Carolina State basketball player

 :rofl_2: :rofl_2: :rofl_2: you're absolutely right!

I'm a monster fan of boxing; my 1st love :)) A great quote from Tex Cobb in a post fight interview after his battle with Holmes :))

""I stuck to my game plan -- stumbling forward and getting hit in the face."

Another great one from Cobb:

"Larry Holmes didn't beat me he just won the first 15 rounds"

 :))

"If you screw things up in tennis, it's 15-love. If you screw up in boxing, it's your ass."

I want more boxing quotes, those are great  :))!

I have got a couple of quotes from Johan Cruijff a legendary football player (in the USA you call it 'soccer'):

"Coincidence is logical"

"Before I make a mistake, I DO NOT make that mistake."

"And if you score, then it's in."

" Without the ball, you can't win."

"Every downside has an upside"

"Football is simple, but the most difficult thing is to play simple football."

"I don't believe in God. In Spain all 22 players make a sign of the cross upon entering the pitch, if it works the game is always going to be a tie."

"Speed is often confused with insight. When I start running earlier than the others, I appear faster."

"To win you have to score one more goal than your opponent."

Etc.

This quote could also easily be transfered to tennis...

Roy Jones Jr.....

"They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy"

Jack Dempsey.....

"All the time he's boxing, he's thinking. All the time he was thinking, I was hitting him".....LOL

Ali......

"Boxing is a lot of white men watching two black men beat each other up"

Omar Epps....

"Boxing, for me, it's the beginning of all sports. I'm willing to bet that the first sport was a man against another man in a fight, so I think that's something innate in all of us".....Good point

Sugar Ray Leonard...

"I consider myself blessed. I consider you blessed. We've all been blessed with God-given talents. Mine just happens to be beating people up"

Jake LaMotta....

"The three toughest fighters I've ever been up against were Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Sugar Ray Robinson. I fought Sugar so many times, I'm surprized I'm not diabetic! But I did have him off the canvas once...when he stepped over my body to leave the ring"...LOL

ok i'm done{for today} :))

Now, now don't pick on me

You're right, alot of guys who make careers of boxing end up on Cloud Tard' :(

Here's one for you.....Mike Quarry died before his time; just a plodding guy who took punches to win. This one right here no doubt took a long term toll on him.

at 3:11....my all time fave fighter throwing one of the best left hooks ever. Quarry looked dead :scared:

This the funniest ko ever. Only guy who gets ktfo out twice by one punch :rofl_2: Zab Judah is a major doofus :))

No I don't box amateur or professionally; just what I've learned from dad and friends who box over the years since a kid. Did alot of tae-kwon-do tourny's through my teens though; sogetting kicked in the head so much didn' help and I sucked anyways :rofl_2:

Haha; I feel ya' bro'. It's not a sport for everyone, to each their own.

It's funny; most members on the boxing forum I am on think tennis is gay and tedious; it seems on here most think very little of boxing or combat sports in general and view it as some form of barbarism.

I must be the only one who loves both sports, and only these 2 sports, because of the similarities I see in each one that are required to be a great champion: great footwork, speed, fantastic conditioning, timing and above all mentality and the will to survive and thrive. I am a weird one though so whateva' :)) I love chess; and tennis and boxing, when at their highest levels, are frantic, frenetic chess matches that require mind over matter. My Truth

I don't love boxing but I do like it for all the stuff you said. I see MMA and UFC (which are like the same thing) as barbaric, it just doesn't have the same mental strength aspect to it, but I do think it's cool when someone gets clocked :). I have always loved chess, I see it as a war and at a high level when you understand the game it is very entertaining. Don't worry, Legion, you're not weird or anything, there are others who see things that way ;-()

I would think there are quite a few chess lovers here. My dad taught me young; I'm not all that great and get mad and throw things, but I can hold my own.

I like UFC/MMA but I am more a purist and appreciate two people who use their hands, footwork and minds to beat their opponent; setting traps and breaking wills, hitting without getting hit, etc.  MMA guys are some of the most well conditioned athletes in the world, but it's so much lucky punches and wild exchanges, or layng on one another wrastling' b.s. I only did martial arts for so many years when I was young because there were no boxing schools close enough.

I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.  :rofl_2:

I just LOVED Mitch Hedberg.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg
