Well she did it (Kim)...I'd guess the 132nd ranked female in the world must be feeling a little cocky right now!   :lmao:

Wierd tournament. Davenport destroyed the #3 seed and then lost to Kim. Congradulations to Kim for winning and this is only her second tournament too, very nice.
I've been a tennis bum for half my life.
I'll just be a bum for the other half.

I 2000% agree.  I am very excited she is back...  And the classy Davenport had nothing but good things to say.

Quote
"To come back and be the player she is, is a testament to her. So I congratulate her," Davenport said.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Lindsay may be classy after the match, but when one watches her play you have to realize how much her attitude sucks.  All these years later and she still pouts, mopes, sneers, swears, is petulant, bratty and never stops yelling up to her box when she starts loosing points! Why can't she overcome these traits?  All the broadcasters covering the matches have mentioned her actions at one time or another, including former players. Just MHO.

What was the exact score?

Again...I think something was terribly wrong with this match. Sure, it went to three sets and thats the least you expect from a player of Lindsay's caliber and rank but still....you don't pick a rusty, unprepared Kim to come back out of nowhere and beat a well-oiled Lindsay -- especially after how insane Davenport played against Sharapvoa yesterday. -sigh- will we ever know why the women are such mental nutcases?

Gr8 win for Kim. I'm ecstatic to see what she'll add to the rivalry of the game and what she can do against Maria, Serena, Mauresmo, Venus and the other Russians. Should get interesting..

She didn't look so rusty.. she looked pretty seasoned.

You have to think that Davenport was looking for the 6-0 in the first set, or the more than 24 game win streak. She hit a backhand approach at net long, to give Clijsters 1-4 and eventually 6-4 set advantage, and she kind of yelped like "oh no!" and she smiled and shrugged...

That seems kind of strange to me that she would concentrate on something like that and not beating Clijsters...

I mean, Lindsay Davenport- one of the flattest ball strikers and hardest hitters and one of the most precise in the game loses 6 in a row because she was 'outplayed' by Clijsters??? Give me a break.

Lindsay wanted that 6-0 bad...and her mental concentration was not where it needed to be.

Sulky Davenport? Did you not see Sharapova on court vs Lindsay the other night? Now *that* was sulky.

I saw the match and both players played well, Kim just played better. I think people are forgetting that Kim has a winning record against Davenport so she knows what it takes to beat her. Although I think Kim played well she wasn't at her highest level that's probably the only reason it went 3 to be honest. She know how to take advantage of Davenports slow speed. It's really not surprising that Kim won and I knew there was no way she would be bageled. When Kim got on board I knew at that time she had caught on to Davenports tactics and she was going to win.

i am not at all surprised that Kim has come back so strong i wasnt expecting her to slowly get back and have a really hard time. I expected her to win some big ones this year and in her comeback.

Justine i also expect to come back strong, i dont think she'll win Miami but i wouldnt be upset if i were wrong. I think Miami is a tougher tourney. Kims been constantyl doing something to stay in shape and shes played a lot of squash. Good job Kim!
Its all good...
