They always have some paranormal themes in the plot.  This one did take it to a greater extent though.

I watched Iron Man and really liked it. I have to keep an eye on the other superheroes not to get old fashoined...

Haven't been to the cinema much at all this year, but I went last night. Saw "Slumdog Millionaire". Story about 3 kids who grew up in the slums of India (really shocking stuff). It's not a documentary, but parts make it seem as so. Turned out to be a :wub: story. Anyway, I got sucked in. I recommend it.

Films I've seen this year starting with the best:
1. No Country for Old Men
2. Religulous
3. Slumdog Millionaire
4. Control (about Ian Curtis/Joy Division)
5. Juno
6. Charlie Wilson's War
7. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (even at #7, not a bad film)

I've seen Slumdog Millionaire too! Seeing as Babble did it, I'll give my top 10 films of the year:

1. The Dark Knight
2. In Bruges
3. No Country for Old Men (even though I think this was 2007?)
4. Slumdog Milionaire
5. Man on Wire
6. Wanted
7. Iron Man
8. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
9. Vantage Point
10. Saw 5 - not great but I find the saw franchise on a whole amazing!

You've seen 7 more films than I have in 2008! :rofl_2:  You got it... I'm one of the few people that don't really like watching movies.  I'd rather watch tennis, football, baseball, basketball, track, skating, ...well, you see where I'm going.  I just have no desire to go to the movies or even watch them on television.  When one really 'hits me', then I'll go see it or wait for the DVD...but it really has to 'hit me' first.  I know I'm not the typical female...(I don't even like to go shopping!) :rofl_2:

I haven't been in a theater since The Return of the Kings (final Lord of the Rings movie). I have no real intention to go into a theater anytime soon.

I disagree, the action was good but not amazing and the plot was horrible, and it lacked the James Bond feel. There were no gadgets, supercars, famous lines, etc. and it felt like a Bourne movie - Bond running away from everyone, and although this was good in a way, I just found it comparatively poor. Casino Royale was the best 007 IMO.

The idea of the reboot was to get back to basics. Get away from the gadgets and unbelievable concepts. They got on to Bourne's coat tails and will ride them for dear life.

The last movie I saw in theatre was Burn After Reading. Hilarious stuff and quite true to some extent. You should see it. Brad is in a tiny role though which was very disappointing otherwise he was killing every time he was on screen.

I am going to see Australia next week.

My favourite genre is sci-fi. My all time favourites are 2001: A Space Odyssey & Solyaris or Solaris however you call it. I have seen both the Russian version and Hollywood version of Solaris. If you get bored easily then, by all means, see the Hollywood version of Solaris.

My 2nd favourite would be psycho thriller. I have probably watched them all. I do enjoy comedies as well but I don't have too many to mention. Not a fan of Hollywood comedies, really. Don't at all watch war movies or any movie that has to do with drugs. I did see some war movies and good ones too, but I decided not to watch anymore. I have to watch Australia though but it's not all about the war. Part of it I guess.

I love old movies. I have a thing for them.

I actually really liked it.  As far as the plot goes, I think it would be confusing if you hadn't watched Casino Royale lately as this was intended to act as a sequel to Casino Royale.  I actually ended up seeing Quantum of Solace twice and the plot was a lot clearer the 2nd time.  Also, the next Bond film is supposed to finish off this intended trilogy (Casino Royale, Quatum of Solace, next Bond) so some of the loose ends should be tied up after that film.  I also saw Australia over the TG weekend.  It was ok but too long, nothing special about it except it touched on a topic that doesn't receive much attention in the US ("Stolen Generations" in Australia).

Just saw Milk. Brought back a lot of powerful memories from Babblelot's youth. 1978 was an awful year in SF--my congressman was murdered in Jonestown and a month or so later Mayor Monscone and Harvey Milk.
