I saw Role Models last week. Just my kind of movie. :gleam: Dirty, raunchy, with plenty of sex jokes and getting hit in the nuts. Besides, Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott are two great reasons to see it. :lust:

I think you liked it because Sean William Scott has an uncanny resemblance to Roddick.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button -- OMG, everyone needs to see that movie

You are absolutely right. I have seen quite a few movies this year and this is the best so far.

This movie should win at least 4 Oscars: Brad Pitt (Best Actor), Cate Blanchett (Best Actress), Taraji P Henson (Best Supporting Actress) and Best Make-up.

I honestly think that it's about time Brad takes an Oscar home. What a wonderful actor. A lot of people dismiss him simply because of his good looks but had they seen Fight Club, Se7en, 12 Monkeys, Kalifornia, Babel, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and now Benjamin, they would rethink everything.

Benjamin should also get the best direction award. It was so beautifully directed.

I do enjoy him and Johnny Depp.  Both of those guys could have made very, very decent livings being pretty boy actors, but have made wise selections in film roles that have shown audiences that they do have real acting abilities.

I really can't see Tom Cruise as anyone but Tom Cruise playing a role.

I liked Seann William Scott way before I even heard of Andy. :)~

I am anxiously waiting for Valkyrie. I know a bit about it so I want to see how accurate this is going to be. I doubt it but still.

I have a question about this film. (not that I'm going to see it) but... is T. Cruise playing a 'German'?  If so, how can you explain a German speaking English with no German accent at all? :confused1: And if he's an American, how did he get that close to Hitler in Germany? :confused1:  I'm confused? :confused1:  I mean, here they are supposedly in Germany speaking no German at all.

He's German, but speaking English yes.  Much like how in Memoirs of a Geisha, everyone was speaking English (in an Asian accent to make it more...realistic?), or in Gladiator, where not a word of Latin was spoken, or in etc, etc, etc.

I think it would really make it worse if they were all going around speaking in faux German accents.  They're already using English as the primary language in Germany.  Making everyone speak in German accents wouldn't increase the realism, it would just accentuate how ridiculous it is in the first place that they're speaking English.

Well, I was just wondering, although I have no desire to see the movie anyway. :))

Just so you know Valkyrie was very good and it's in English. This movie shows a different side of Germany. Not all of German was a Hitler worshipper and a lot of people are not aware of that. for that reason alone you should see it. Too bad Stauffenberg couldn't execute what he was set out to do. Anyway, Valkyrie was the name of the mission. I have seen a very good documentary on Dicovery and from time to time they show it, if you want to see what really happened. There were few moments from Stauffenberg's son himself which I thought was quite touching.

Anyway, there's a very good Sci-fi movie coming up after a long time and it's from James Cameron, and I am not talking about Terminator Salvation. This movie is called Avatar and it's in 3D. Apparently, this is the most expensive movie ever made so far and is getting a lot of buzz. It has Cameron's favourite and so is mine, Sigourney Weaver in it but more importantly, watch out for this Australian guy Sam Worthington, who is also in Terminator Salvation. I think he'll steal the show in Avatar as he's one of the lead actors. I really like the way he looks. Here's a pic:

Unfortunately, Avatar is set to release in December. I don't think I can look forward to another December already. I guess we'll have to settle with Terminator Salvation for now, which is coming out in May.

007 QOS - As bad as it can get  :thumb-down:

Agreed, I was so dissapointed considering how good Casino Royale was!

QOS is a huge 007 movie IMO. The best 007 ever.

I disagree, the action was good but not amazing and the plot was horrible, and it lacked the James Bond feel. There were no gadgets, supercars, famous lines, etc. and it felt like a Bourne movie - Bond running away from everyone, and although this was good in a way, I just found it comparatively poor. Casino Royale was the best 007 IMO.

I agree 1000%!    The action in QOS was way too fast to even follow who was who and what was going on.  It was as though they hurried through the action scenes.  Casino Royale was clearly the best Bond movie ever...........IMO!

I thought Quantum of Solace was sort of pathetic in the grand scheme of the James Bond universe. I mean ecoterrorists who want to capture Bolivia's water supply? I thought the writing was exceedingly poor, and they substituted rather boorish violence for  thrilling suspense and genuine enjoyment. I for one was not fooled by it, and I thought it was one of the lamer James Bond movies in recent years. Also, I know theme songs don't always make or break a movie, but I thought the Jack White, Alicia Keys duet was an abysmal cacophony by two incompatible musical styles.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible.

The Lives of Others--best "foreign" film I've ever seen; shame the Academy didn't consider it for best picture, because it was in the top two of all the films I saw that year.

Check out some of Giuseppe Tornatore's films.  I've seen all his films except his first.  It's a shame that he doesn't get much recognition here in the US though several of his films have won/been nominated in the Best Foreign Film category at the Oscars or Golden Globes.

I have decided to see He's Not That Into You this week. I know it's probably full of clichés but oh well. Aren’t they all? BGT, I think you should watch too so that we discuss later. Dallas is hopeless. She should watch one of Roger's old matches.  ..-)
