Inglourious Basterds - a must see.

The movie was pretty great, but the title and previews are misleading.  The "Basterds" are really focused on for only 1/2 of the movie, or less.  Still, I enjoyed the film quite a bit.

I'll be watching that tomorrow morning.  I was contemplating bringing a 12 year old cousin, but I keep seeing the worlds "alien anal sex" popping up left and right in regards to the movie, so I reconsidered my stance.

Oddly enough, I watched a movie yesterday.

We discussed seeing one of the titles mentioned above and opted out of the 'alien butt sex' and other flashy films.

Instead we hit the vid store and picked up Gran Torino by Mr. Eastwood.
The Chief's comment afterwards was that it was not what she expected.
I thought it was a great story line with many interesting characters.  
A few corny spots here and there but overall a good flick.

District 9 was good, not enough alien anal intercourse however (jk, jk).  It didn't work as an apartheid analogy for me, but I still found it enjoyable.

Grand Torino was a fantastic movie.  I laughed about as hard as I could for the first half of the move.

Found myself gravitating more towards the true story type films instead of the smoke and mirrors in the action flicks.
The Hurt Locker looks like it's in that style.

It's a virtual documentary (but it's not, it's a film). All of it was shot on location. Better yet, there are no movie stars--just regular folk. I like independent films because I don't like movie stars.

I think that they were misleading on purpose and if that was the intention then they couldn't have come up with a better plan. Little did I realize that I was in for a massive shock. But then again, you really don't want to underestimate Taratino's ability. I thought that was the best movie of this year along with 500 Days of Summer. IB was so unique and the tensions were so high at times, you could literally cut it with a knife. Very dark and brutal but stylish and hilarious at the same time. It's so well made and the back ground music was absolutely mind-blowing. Both the direction and the acting were superb.

Yes, Chapter One was excellent.  Did you not think that's where Valkyrie failed somewhat as it mostly went with British accent throughout the movie? I thought that was another gem from Tarantino, the way he covered all the accents and switching back and forth comfortably whenever the movie demanded it. Valkyrie is still very well made and has the most incredible supporting cast I ever saw in a movie. But I still didn't feel that they were able to capture the real tension that of a WW, because I would think during that time period, no one really trusted no one and I felt that Valkyrie failed to catch that, as it seemed like everyone was plotting against Hitler and openly so, which was not the case. The ending was a bit too long as a lot of people were already aware of the situation, but the tension up until the final blow up was really high.

Brad Pitt was perfect in that role yet again. I was amazed by Christoph Waltz's acting. He couldn't be anymore dead on as Jew Hunter. I think he's going to win the Oscar.

I saw District 9... it was so weird.

And I also saw The Perfect Getaway... it was alright. It reminded me of the movie Turistas... just not as good.

And I've been watching true blood as well... not a movie but I freakin love that show!

Romance is acceptable if done tastefully. I just don't wish to see annihilation cheesy. The abstraction of affair is absolutely absent on western ability these days. But if you watch abounding of the old movies, you will see how accurately they were done. It's accurate that 50 to 60 percent of my favourite movies are from the 30s, 40s, 50s and the 60s. Even the 70s and the 80s had some absolutely abundant movies. It's sad that affair has now become all about sex and what not.
