Saw Shutter Island the other day. Pretty messed up flick! :shocking:  I liked it, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Was going to see "Hurt Locker", but after reading what real troops had to say deleted from my Netflix queue.
Then we will fight in the shade.

They said it's unrealistic and shows the EOD guys as unprofessional/cowboy types.

Okay Christina! Start with these two threads.

You can learn a lot about a person through their tastes in film and music. Let's get to know you beyond the Baker Poop Factory.

Get your list of favorite movies together and post them here. Then go to this thread and do the same for music.

Yes, sir!  ;-()  I don't know about "favorites" but here are the ones that I'd stop what I am doing to watch no matter where it is in the movie.

Favorite Chick Flicks:
Titanic
Steele Magnolias

Random Favorites:
Harry Potter Series
The Color Purple
Tombstone
To Kill a Mockingbird
Passion of the Christ
Finding Nemo (come on, everyone likes this one, right?)

There are probably others I'm not thinking of.

Yep - poor Scott.  He has it rough. His cinematic repertoire is much more interesting than mine.  Same goes for his music.

Just saw Alice in Wonderland. Very kooky, crazy movie, but that's to be expected when Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton get together.

Actually, Christina, I like a couple of chick-flicks. Both Brad Anderson films. I like them because the relationships are complicated, so I'm not sure yous two will find them interesting.

Next Stop Wonderland -- stars one of my favorite actresses, Hope Davis. One of my favorite actors, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, plays a very minor part.

Happy Accidents -- stars Marisa Tomei and Vincent D'Onofrio.
Facebook fans 26 women, 9 men

They're both a bit bittersweet, but good fun. Can you guys handle that?

Phillip Seymour Hoffman...every time I think of this guy I think of Cold Mountain.  I know he's a great actor and all, but that role ruined him in my mind. Pervy pastor.  Cold Mountain was a good movie too.

I can't watch movies with Tom Cruise, so I know what you're saying. But you'll hardly notice him. He plays a goof and can't be on screen for more than 2-3 minutes combined (just a couple of scenes).

Go rent it, damnit

I got around to Inglorious Basterds last night. I didn't know anything about it, other than it got nominated for best picture. I hope it wins. The Hurt Locker was really good, too, but Avatar's just retarded. And The Blind Side is not Oscar worthy. Anyway, great flick. Ironically, I was watched it with my Jewish friend. I broached the subject afterward. I said it must be awful to be German and have to watch, or not, these movies all the time. Then I asked about his experience. He said he's just numb to it, now. He said every year there's a movie about this. He said last year there were 4. Still, it can't be easy for most Jews or Germans...I would think.

Inglorious Basterds & Hurt Locker were both pretty good movies, I enjoyed both of them.  Inglorious Basterds was not what I expected, I guess I did not see enough previews of it.  Wifey just brought it home for a weekend viewing.  Good stuff.
