I haven't seen it yet, but it was everyone's pick to win. No surprise. It's still in theaters here. I'll see it this week.

OK, I just got back from "The King's Speech" and it was very good. It's just a nice, feel good story wrapped around fear, love, friendship, humor, and duty. I also saw "Inception" since I updated my 2010 movie list, so here's where they fall.

#1 El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The Secret in Their Eyes)
#2 Please Give
#3 It's Kind of a Funny Story
#4 Inside Job (documentary) -- would be #1 had I not seen a short that covered some of this already
#5 King's Speech
#6 City Island
#7 Cyrus
#8 Shutter Island
#9 Client 9 (documentary)
#10 Inception -- Ellen Page was so bad she was distracting
#11 Waiting for Superman (documentary) -- I totally disagree with its premise
#12 Greenberg -- this is the only film I really did not care for, at all

I saw The King's Speech, Black Swan, The Kids Are All Right, Inception, Shutter Island, The Lovely Bones, Sex and City 2 (eww), The Social Network, Hereafter.
 
Also saw a bunch of old movies at home. The best movie of the above bunch is The King's Speech followed by Shutter Island. The Social Network is probably my 3rd choice followed by The Kids Are All Right. And then Inception, Hereafter.
 
Black Swan, The Lovely Bones and Sex & the City 2 all sucked to no end.

I saw two movies this summer so far - the Bridesmaids and Midnight in Paris. Both quite good with Bridesmaids a bit over the top at times while Midnight in Paris felt a bit short. Going to see Horrible Bosses soon and The Future - not a Sci-fi mind you, but a comedy/drama etc.

Can't believe I haven't gone to see Midnight in Paris, right up my alley. For some reason, I just don't want to sit in a theater this summer :dunno:  Must have something to do with the weather  :gleam:  Good news is, it's still in theaters here.  :)

I have not been to a theater in several years, so expensive.  I should rephrase that, I take the kids every now and then, I have not gone for myself in years...

i have been watching some old stuff of late:

1. once upon a time in the west - good

2. unforgiven - sucked, how the hell they even rated it that high i don't know, there's nothing interesting in the movie after the whores set up a bounty to kill those abusers.......the film was also dark for most part......   

3. the magnificent seven - average

4. the silence of the lambs - average   

5. for a few dollars more - good

Just saw "Midnight in Paris" finally. Love the screenplay and would have loved the film, but I'm not a fan of Owen Wilson, so that dropped it down a few notches. Too bad.

Finally saw The Hangover. It was quite good. Excellent cast and very well directed. Also saw Freedomland. It was okay.

I happen to agree. I much prefer Robert DiNiro’s early movies such Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, New York, New York, Raging Bull etc. and same goes for Al Pacino, but now they are much bigger than their films and it just feels like acting all the way and never feels natural. Insomnia, for example, was a great movie but the cast totally ruined it for me. If it had some no names then I think this movie would have rocked. Same goes for Leonardo diCaprio – two great movies came out just last year (Inception and Shutter Island) yet I wasn’t able to enjoy them as much and it was simply because Leonardo is now bigger than this and he comes off as if he’s acting all the time. I never really bought into the character he was playing.

Own Wilson is not as big however but still, it would probably better if Woody Allen had gone with some no names. If I were a director, I’d make sure that my cast is not bigger than my film. The content of a movie should always come first and when you have people you don’t know at all, the movie can stand alone and it makes it so much more credible and authentic.

what do you guys think about "once upon a time in america"? i found it really good......it was really harsh on sergio leone to cut the movie down to 2 hours for american theaters.......i saw the full 4 hour version and found it great.......the childhood phase with those 5 kids was really the best part of the movie.......
