What shoes do you wear?
« on: April 02, 2008, 03:33:48 AM »
I am in love with my Asics Gel Resolutions....just wondering what everyone wears and why they love them!

I love the resolutions because they are light so I feel I move faster, they have good ankle support even though they are low to the ground, and some may think they look hideous...but I think they look awesome!

I have Wilson $40 shoes.  I am not sure the exact model name but they are a bit heavy but the price is right!    I go through all shoes very quickly as they wear out in the front from toe dragging.

Yeah i've had very similar problems in the past.  I used cheaper Wilson models for a while and they always tore apart in the right foot toebox.  I doubt these are miraculously constructed so differently that they last alot longer...but i'm loving them while they last at least  :king:

Yeah, it doesn't matter how much they cost for how fast I go through them.  Some brands are better than others.   Wilson has lasted as long as any others for me.

When I was teaching we were sponsored by Wilson, and they had just come out with the "Goodyear 500" shoes. They used reinforced rubber at the toes so they would last longer. We went through them pretty fast anyway.

asics make good shoes.  right now i wear reebok match day pumps (roddick's shoe in 04-05) for practice and fila torneo IIs for matches.  the torneos are pretty much done but they're light and so much less clunky than the reeboks.  the pump is a nice shoe but a bit too much for when i really need to haul ass around the court.

I attended a practice way back when where the coach had us wear 5 and 10 lb weights. But I never really thought about wearing heavy shoes during practice. I like it. :king:

I never thought to do that either.  I might have to go buy a heavy pair of tennis shoes just to wear at practice to see if it makes me any lighter on my feet during matches.  Good suggestion!

I wear New Balance 1002.

A great shoe for $70!  I like the wide toe box and they feel light compared to the other NB models.  Also, the heel is a bit higher than some of the other models, which seems to get my weight forward a tad.  Overall, I think they're a great shoe.

Would love to try the Adidas Barricaide, but I'm sure they're not wide enough to accomodate my fatarse feet. :mad1:

I had many pairs of the ones like those but a step down!   They were super light and I loved the dark blue color..........made me feel like a bad-ice!         I think they were the lightest tennis shoe ever............at least that I am aware of.

I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

I like the NB shoes, they are the only shoes I have ever found that I do not need to wear two pairs of socks to play in them for the first few matches so they do not hurt my feet.  I think I use the 653s.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

those would not even qualify as tennis shoes nowadays, more like casual wear.

ok so i need shoes in time for my next serious tennis days. is it worthy giving tennis shoes another try? I do want to watch the price though, because as I said, I can get two pairs of NB or asics running shoes that each last me twice as long as my first and only tennis shoe experience with more comfort than the tennis shoes, for the same price as these some of these tennis shoes.

but everyone keeps saying tennis shoes are great for tennis and all..maybe i just had a bad experience last time and it's not always like that?

How on earth could running shoes last longer than tennys?
They are only designed for the stress of forward motion as opposed to the stop & start /side to side motions of tennis.  In addition there is no additional material in the toe.  You must not be a 'toe dragger' like I am....
