Always worth a shot. The real question is which for the mains, and which for the crosses. For a while the pros put the gut (or synthetic) in the crosses and the poly in the mains. However recently some have been doing it the other way around.

I know NOTHING about hybrid stringing at all, haha. I don't know anything about tensions or anything. It's kind of sad actually.

if money is no object then the softer string would go in the mains depending on your style. it sorta accentuates whatever that's on the main and makes it move less. however it will break FAST. for most people the best bet is poly mains and a softer syngut cross (no need to get something expensive unless its gut, because the mains account for more of the playing characteristics).

. So in this case i'd go with Pro Supex Blue Gear mains with Gosen Sheep Crosses.

Any suggestion on tension changes? I've heard this debated a lot.

Not much of a debate. It's all a matter of personal taste. Like Jackel said, softer string in the mains will break faster, but that depends a lot on the amount of spin you hit with and how hard you hit. One of the biggest plus about poly string is the less movement of the main strings, regardless of which you put in the mains.
I've got gut in the mains now, but have played with poly in the mains. With the poly in the mains I seemed to have more life in my shots, with the gut, more control, but slightly less life. By life I mean spin, not power. But either way, there isn't much need to adjust my strings at all. Less movement means less sawing, which means longer life in the stringbed.

That makes sense. So let's say i'm trying to avoid tons of power and I want to keep my spin. I currently would string a full poly job at 60lbs. What would be the suggested stringing tension ratio of a hybrid for me with poly in the mains?

Which combo did/do you prefer DM, the Lux in the mains or the crosses?
btw Have you tried several different brands of gut and which do you prefer?

soft string in mains -> hard cross biting into soft main -> breakage
so actually in terms of durability poly mains/syngut crosses > full poly, at least in my experience

Thats definitely the route i'm headed. Just curious on tension now. I hear a lot of people go down. Like if i'm at 60...a lot of people would do something like 56/52 or something like that.

Luxilon and other poly makers recommend a 5-10 percent reduction in tension when stringing with poly. But if you are looking for a deader string bed, you might want to consider ignoring most of that percentage.

I think my first attempt is going to be the cyberflashes with gosen sheep and then maybe the blue gears with gosen sheep

i like to go 2-4lb higher on the crosses esp with a hybrid. when i used to string my own i used a special tension pattern - the middle strings id string 2lb below my target tension (lets say 48 if im going for 50). the outer 2 mains on each side id go +6 (56) to compensate for the tie-off of the strings, then the crosses i would go +2lb. in my experience this is the best for tension maintenance and long-term playability (got this tip from a french stringer who used to work with baghdadis). when i give my racquet to a tennis shop i just ask for slightly looser mains, because idk if they'll actually spend time doing it anyway.

I would string the Luxilon more loosely than any other string (at least 5-10 lbs). If not, you will kill your arm...

Me arm is ok and I typically run the Lux anywhere from 68-72lbs.
But remember, that's MY arm.

Are you using a full set or a hybrid?
I just finished putting a new hybrid in one of my HTours. I tried dropping the tension on the Lux to 58 and put some Gamma TNT in the crosses. Hoping to try it out today.

so far i've only done the 60lbs. I usually just stick with what works well for me, haha. Do you think I should try and change tensions at some point?
