I played 10 sets in 3 days  lol  Me feets are a royal mess.

I just got off the court. Split 2 sets  1-6, 6-3  I broke him 3 times in the second set. It's starting to sink in that I should be drubbing this guy. Instead, I choose to double fault my service games away. Anyway, he's starting to feel the pressure and says, "I don't know what's gotten into you lately." I can't believe I'm struggling just to get my serve IN!

 :;:-|

Didn't you have foot problems last year when you visited Columbus?  I guess you sorta need to break them in slowly?  10 sets in 3 days is a lot of tennis!

Elbow and blisters  :rofl_2:  The tennis elbow has never gone away, but it's not painful anymore.

"Every day I think of playing again," Gaudio says. "Once you’ve played at a high level, not to be able to reach that standard again carries a lot of frustration and impotence. Such feelings hurt me and I can’t control them."

I can understand what he means. I never reached near the heights he or any pro reached, but every time I step on court I feel like it's there less and less in the well. So sometimes getting on the court and playing becomes frustrating.

I don't find it an unusual epitaph at all, even for hacks. Why did Borg walk at age 25 ranked IDK #2? Why won't my buddy--who had aspirations of turning pro--play golf anymore?

Most uninformed people only think of the Federers and Nadals as perfectionists. Most uniformed people fail to recognize that the Safins and Gaudios are also perfectionists. The point being, in the end, perfectionism is pathological in those who aren't well balanced.

Or forgot about some previous commitment.... :scared: :scared:

One point it's, "Pfft, can I possibly butcher that any worse?" The next point it's, "Pfft, apparently so." Even when I serve a now rare ace, the only thought that passes between the ears is, "Pfft, where the hell has that been the past 2 weeks." I've been so ace deprived, serving one makes me angry!

Very funny Babble!  If you are playing the same people, they might be picking up on where you are going to serve by your motion or something.

True, but that doesn't come into play here.

The problem with playing the same person is that you wind up spending more time with that person than you otherwise would. Things about him are really starting to grate on me even before we step on the court, and I just carry it onto the court and implode. Sunday I told him he was "playing like a little b**** and now you're starting to whine like a b****". Tuesday night he started whining before we took the court and I turned to face him, took a ball out of my pocket and made like I was going to blast it at him from point-blank range. I don't care what he thought I was up to, I wasn't kidding around.

I did something to my shoulder while serving about 2 weeks ago. I haven't played since, I thought I would make it worse.

I've been tinkering with my serve all year; I not at all happy with my flat serve and want to improve my kickserve. I seem to have made too extreme an adjustment on one serve and felt a muscle(?) strain in my shoulder, kind of in the rotator cuff area (I'm not saying it's a rotator cuff tear). Anyway, I kept playing for at least another hour. On my serve, I just went back to a less extreme grip. So two weeks later, I can still feels some soreness only. It doesn't affect my ability to lift something bulky or heavy. But if I stretch my arm behind my head, I can feel some pain. I really have to poke my finger deep into the region to feel the soreness. But it is pretty sore, but does seem to be getting better.

I don't feel like getting an X-ray right now. I'm just not going to play for a long while.

That sucks. I have a constant shoulder soreness.  It has been around for about 5-6 years which is the main reason I no longer play singles.  Hopefully another weeks rest and you will be alright.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Thanks for the reply.

Is it easy for you to pinpoint the area? When you prod into it, does is it acute soreness? If you stretch your shoulder, is there a sharp pain? Is yours located in the rotator cuff area?

Not sure I can pinpoint it.  I went to physical therapy way back when and they told me it was tendinitis.  I took 3 months off, did strength training and the day I came back and hit it was sore again.

The only time I can really feel an acute pain is when I stretch the shoulder back in the direction as if I was bench pressing.  The only time it bothers me though is when I hit too many serves.  I can hit groundies all day long with no issues.

Thanks. I forgot, I had to go to PT for the same shoulder a few years ago. I don't recall if the pain was the same. Anyway, I came back full strength and haven't had an issue until now. The PT really helped with whatever was going on then. I'm just going to take some time off then decide what to do.
