I saw him say this as well Alison.
Seems he didn't relaise 'bastard' is very much a swear word over here- but he's worked on BBC for enough years now.
I'm wondering whether the Americans on here consider the word 'bastard' as a swear word?

Not as much as it has been in the past. All of them seem to have become more a part of the language in the last 15 years.

To most adults around here it is an offensive word.
However, in a weak attempt to go "ghetto" many yutes use foul language now.
I am often in fine homes as a part of my job and it's amazing how many upper class kiddies use ghetto language amongst themselves and even towards their parents.  Most distressing! :(

Now that I think about it, it's interesting that they don't use that language when speaking with me!  Perhaps I exude a lack of tolerance for that type of behaviour?:confused1: ;-()

Suburban homeboys.
The Sparks wrote a song about them (including Scooter, and OSU):

Quote from: sparks
I am a suburban homeboy with a suburban 'ho right by my side
I am a suburban homeboy and I say yo dog to my pool cleaning guy
I hope I'm baggy enough for them
I play my Shaggy enough for them
I'll pop a cap up some fool at the Gap
'Cause I'm a suburban homeboy

I am a suburban homeboy with a suburban ho right by my side
I am a suburban homeboy and I say yo' dog to my detailing guy
I bought me cornrows on Amazon
I started listening to Farrakhan
My caddy and me he looks just like Jay-Z
And I'm a suburban homeboy

I am a suburban homeboy with a suburban ho right by my side
She's known as Miss Missy Tannenbaum and she's one freak b**ch, ain't no lie
She's from the projects in St. Tropez
She looks like Iverson in a way
She yo yo's me and I yo yo her back
And I'm a suburban homeboy

We are suburban homeboys
With our suburban ho's right by our sides
We are suburban homeboys and we say yo dog and we mean it, by God
We've got an old school mentality
Oxford and Cambridge mentality
Props to our peeps and please keep your receipts
And we are suburban homeboys
Props to our peeps and please keep your receipts
And we are suburban homeboys

Well done to ANDY TODAY A VERY ENTERTAINING MATCH (KEYBOARD PROBLEMS SORRY FOR CAPS ) I ENJOY MR SANTORO  and I know he is one of Andy's fave players   (keyboard working fine now  :rofl_2: )

Nice to see Judy and Kim watching together, I hope Andy will stop opening his mouth so wide on court (his celebrations), I have often had visions of a bee or a wasp entering (not a nice thought) but he does tend to keep it open for quite a while, other than that I was very happy with him today, his attitude was great, positive

Good luck Andy in your next match  :))

Yes, it's like... when announcers say something like "He hasn't served a double fault all tournament"...then the immediate next serve is a double fault.  Then the announcers said "see, we made him miss"... like the player heard what the announcer had just said... But it's all in the head!  If the announcers believed it - then it's true!  So if the players here believe they helped Andy... who are we to say they didn't!  It's good to believe! :))

Godo match indeed. Did you however watch the match? The biggest problem for Murray is being agressive. I know he likes to play his kind of game but when he needs to go for that big shot and finish points, he needs to do it, not play dropshots or another moonball. I know Santoro isn't the best person to judge against but I hope Murray was taking the opportunity to be agressive and being agressive with it and not continue his passive styles.

anyway, i hope to find this match and make highlights if it was a good quality, two of my favourite players and both very entertaining to watch :)

He fancies himself a serve/volley player in the making. He said in an interview, or at a press confrence, that he has one of the best volleys on tour.  :\

best volleys.. hmm.. well he's not bad but he's a few ways to go being a serve and volley player. As of now he's more of a hang back 20 feet behind the baseline type player. His mentality is exactly the opposite of a serve and volley game.

Great match for Andy, straight sets wins are what he needs, so hopefully he can keep it up in his 2nd round match against Malisse. Can we turn this into the British appreciation thread, as I think Eaton deserves a congratulating as well on reaching Round 2.

We'll see what happens when he plays. Meanwhile, Murray is a set and a break up over Malisse :))
And his brother is 2 sets up in doubles.
