Topic: Racket Question

Hi

I'm a bit of beginner and was wondering what are the differences between the cheaper and more expensive rackets ?. I've listed my racket against a more expensive one for comparison sake. Is it worth keeping my racket or going for something better as I am learning the game ?.

My take would be to learn with the racket you have, then if you decide that tennis is for for you, then you might want to consider upgrading.  I'd hate to advise you to buy an expensive racket and then have you decide that you don't want to keep playing.  That's what I did waaaay back when.  I bought some kmart special racket for about $5 and after I fell in love with the game upgraded to a nice model (the ole small-headed Head Pro).

I would advise the same thing. Learn the same, then buy a racquet that fits what you learn.

I will concur.  Tenniswarehouse (among other websites) have stats on the racquets too, like what level player the racquet might prove to be best for.  Always worth looking at.  But beyond that, beyond all that is holy...  Always demo a racquet before you buy it!

I would agree with the above 3 but add that early tennis to me is about getting a feel for how the ball bounces and getting good at watching the ball all the way into the strings.......basically, learning the feel of the game.  A better racquet is not necessary until later........usually much later..........unless you get much better very quickly.
