This is my fav shot but recently last few days anyway about 90% of them are falling short of the net!

Most of the time it hits top of the net what do you think is the problem i know its hard to give advice  with no video but

I find that anytime I am struggling with the slice it means I am swinging to hard.  Probably not your problem, but I thought I would throw it out there.

If I was hitting a slice short then I would think I am hitting the ball too far out in front of me.  If I am hitting the ball too far behind me than it would chop up too high.

What grip are you using for the slice?

Cool, that is what I would recommend.  Does your slice stay low as it goes over the net or does it have more of an arching motion?

If it is arching then you are chopping at the ball too much as opposed to driving through the shot.

Here is a video of Djokovic hitting a slice backhand.  The swing gets adjusted for higher shots, but notice how it is not a chopping slice.
