There are many tough players who play defense
well. If you are good at offense, and not good at defense,
things can turn ugly for you quickly on the court. Being skilled
in both offense and defense is what it takes to become a great
tennis player. Good defensive play can turn a point around
and put your opponent on the defensive end and put you on
the winning end of the point, which is the ultimate goal of defense.
Most of us practice the offensive part of
the game and rarely ever practice the defensive part of the
game. Of course practicing the offensive part is much more
fun. Playing offense you are in control of the point, you
get to hit winners, plain and simple you call the shots. However,
how you play when the tables are turned and you are the one playing
defense severly change the outcome of a match. The better you are
at defending your court the harder it is for your opponent to move
you around and it immediately puts pressure on your opponent.
A good defender needs to be able to do many
things (and quickly) in order to defend a court effectively. Just because
you might be fast does not make you a good defender. Good
defense takes anticipation, movement, good decision making
and more. Click below to read about the certain aspects of
defensive play.

Good Luck on the
