Hi everyone! This is Tommie Ray and I wanna talk to you about
getting your kids involved in tennis. I discovered a method
that works just great and is fun and competitive and the same
time.
You are playing a game with your son or daughter and they
are learning the game of tennis and how to hit the ball, (you
can add or modify your own rules). So here is my format, hope
you can use it. I know my son and me have a ball at it ! !
First you go to the local park where there's tennis courts.
Then you both get at the service lines (you know, the two
boxes nearest to the net). I have to keep the ball in the
two boxes and my son gets the whole singles court on my side.
We serve from the service line and go from side to side just
like in a real game. Now, for the scoring, we keep score like
ping pong. He serves 5 and then I serve 5 and so on. The first
one to 21 wins and you have to win by 2. Now you can use regular
tennis scoring if you want and I plan on working that into
the game in time. So I get to work on my touch game and my
son gets to hit in his range area. This can even work for
beginner adults and their kids. I used to go to the courts
with my son and it was always, "Your hitting too fast Dad."
Now we found something that works and we have fun when we
go and play. Try it if your child is interested in tennis.
I am sure they will love this and don't forget to let the
kids win once in awhile!! Praising them often and encouragement
adds to their self-confidence and their tennis will improve.
Who knows, maybe they will beat you legitimately or a college
scholarship to a prominent Tennis school!!
Well I hope you enjoy this and have fun with it, and always
remember tennis is a game and should be played that way. Bye!!
Tommie Ray
