This is a fun drill to play to build your reflexes.
Have 2 students (or student and instructor) play only using 1 of the
doubles alleys. The students start standing 5 feet away from the net,
so they will be 10 feet apart. They may forward of backwards after the
point has started if they wish. The object of the game is to pass the
opponent, but you must do it by hitting the ball in the doubles alley.
Lobs are allowed, but they must land in the doubles alley.
Any ball that lands outside of the doubles alley the other person is
awarded 1 point. If you pass your opponent and the ball lands inside of
the doubles alley you win 2 points. First person to 10 points wins.
If the student is playing against the instructor try giving the student
3 or 4 points if they pass the instructor.
If the drill is being played by beginners try using ½ of the court instead
of just a doubles alley. The more advanced students should use the doubles
alley.
Good Luck on the Court!!!
